The composite material bonds to the surface of your tooth better which forms a tighter seal (less space for bacteria), and also means that the dentist can preserve more of your natural tooth. So not only does it look significantly better, it also works better too. Win, win!
How Do I Know if I am a Good Candidate for Composite Fillings?
If you have tooth decay that can reasonably be restored with a filling, you are a good candidate for composite fillings. If your old amalgam fillings are small enough that they can be removed without getting too close to the root, you are a good candidate for composite fillings.
In short, if you have anything on your tooth that can be restored with a filling rather than a crown, an inlay, or an onlay, you are a good candidate for tooth colored fillings.
